´╗┐Head west on I-10 towards San Antonio and you'll pass through Katy, located on the outer edge of town. Katy is one of Houston's booming suburbs and has been growing rapidly since the early 1990s. Construction for a wider I-10 has helped alleviate some of the traffic in the area, and has also shortened the commute time for those working downtown. Originally, Katy was a suburb that catered to those who wanted the luxury of more acerage and square footage for a fraction of the cost in the city, and Katy now has a good mix of affordable housing and pricier, larger homes. Katy High School has put Katy on the map as one of the nation's football hotbeds, with a number of state championships under their belt. The Katy Mills Mall and access to a number of great golf courses are a few of the other benefits of living in this up and coming area.
